?Birthday week?- Birthday cake

Of course, a fun tradition for a birthday is the birthday cake!  But that doesn’t mean we have to make a cake with ingredients that include glyphosate, artificial dyes, or artificial flavors. There are better choice options, even with a fun birthday cake.

1️⃣Frosting & sprinkles
On artificial food dyes:

“During the past 50 years, the amount of synthetic dye used in foods has increased by 500%. Simultaneously, an alarming rise has occurred in behavioral problems in children, such as aggression, attention deficit disorder (ADD), and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).” 1

“The molecules of synthetic colorants are small, and the immune system finds if difficult to defend the body against them. They can also bond to food or body proteins and, thus, are able to act in stealth mode to circumvent and disrupt the immune system.” 1

2️⃣Cake?:
On glyphosate:

“[Glyphosate] doesn’t create a completely poor functioning brain, or have major effects on brain development. The effects are going to be subtle and accumulative over years of exposure.”2

“There is evidence that we are being exposed to increasing doses of glyphosate and other compounds of the herbicide formation over the years. Such exposure is potentially deleterious.”2

On artificial flavor:
Artificial flavors must be compromised of one of 700 FDA allowed flavoring chemicals OR they can be “any of 2,000 other chemicals not directly regulated by FDA but sanctioned for use by an industry group.” 3
