The EPA states, “The air within homes and other buildings can be more seriously polluted than the outdoor air in even the largest and most industrialized cities.”(1)

Things to avoid:
1️⃣Some household cleaners-
“Many cleaning supplies or household products can irritate the eyes or throat, or cause headaches and other health problems, including cancer. Some products release dangerous chemicals, including volatile organic compounds (VOCs).”(3)

2️⃣Some candles, wax melts, or plug-ins-
In one study, the average number of VOCs (volatile organic compounds) emitted from products containing fragrances was 17. Each product emitted 1–8 toxic or hazardous chemicals, and close to half (44%) generated at least 1 of 24 carcinogenic hazardous air pollutants, such as acetaldehyde, 1,4-dioxane, formaldehyde, or methylene chloride. According to the EPA, “these hazardous air pollutants have no safe exposure level”. (4)
