What is “Clean”?

By January 11, 2020No Comments

I recently emailed two companies asking if their product was clean. Both companies replied back with, YES, 100% clean. We use the best ingredients. BUT, yet one product had artificial flavors and artificial dyes. And the other product had sucralose and acesulfame potassium (artificial sweeteners) in it. All ingredients that are ??.
.
Why then could they tell me the products were clean? Because there is NO definition or any regulation defining the word clean. So basically anything can be clean ?

If you’re at the store or online shopping for food/supplements/protein powders/etc, I’d say CLEAN means NO:

➡️Artificial sweeteners – acesulfame potassium (ace- k), sucralose, aspartame.
➡️Artificial preservatives – BHT, BHA
➡️Artificial dyes – red 40, blue 1, yellow 5, yellow 6, etc.
➡️Artificial flavors
➡️Caramel color – synthetically made
➡️DATEM – Diacetyl Tartaric Acid Esters of Monoglycerides
➡️High fructose corn syrup
➡️Hydrogenated oils
➡️GMO ingredients – (anything with the words soy, corn, sugar, canola, cotton in it. Ex: canola oil, soy protein isolate, corn maltodextrin, cottonseed oil, etc.
➡️Mono- and diglycerides
➡️MSG – monosodium glutamate
➡️Nitraites – sodium nitrite, sodium nitrate
➡️Sodium Benzoate, Sodium Phosphate
➡️TBHQ
➡️Vegetable oil
(Yes there are other ingredients worth avoiding, but these are the main ones I’d suggest starting with).

You are the gatekeeper to your body. You are the only who decides what goes in it. Be smarter than the top notch paid marketing gurus out there!

And consuming any of these products does not mean you will today have cancer, or heart issues, or depression, or some illness. But, these are man made ingredients/ or highly processed by man that don’t nourish the body. Food from nature nourishes, protects, and heals the body! Remember if it’s not nourishing, protecting, or healing, what is it doing? Ingredients just don’t do nothing in your body.
