Ahh, summertime. I love when summer finally rolls around! I love pool parties, early morning runs outside with my friends, playing games with my family until way past their bedtime because it stays light out so late, and every other thing that comes with summer. I especially love getting together with friends and family for barbecues! Many people find it hard to stay on track with their healthy lifestyle while hosting or attending parties Well, I’m here to tell you it can be done! With a little preparation, you can definitely still have traditional barbecue foods, but just a better version of them! Here are a few of my favorite barbecue staples!

A fruit plate is always one of the first things I think of when I need to take a dish to a party. Super easy! Just wash and prep the fruit and arrange any way you like. Luckily it’s pretty easy to find red and white fruit, and blueberries are always a winner and in season during the summer months!

Another easy dish to throw together is a salad. This salad comes together quickly and looks beautiful with pops of red, white, and blue on top of a bed of spinach. I always a love a salad that includes so many superfoods!

This fruit pizza is a little more labor intensive with the oat crust, but the presentation is more than worth it!

I love the look of this flag caprese. This is a great one to make on those hot summer days when you just don’t want to turn on your oven. The flavors in this dish combine in the most magical way–you have to try it!

Here’s an adorable and easy one that even your kids can do! What child wouldn’t love holding a fruit sparkler? These are a big winner at my house.

Another easy one your kids can do! (I know this picture shows marshmallows…lots of good clean marshmallow options out there these days, but I like to use bananas!)

Here’s another great salad full of nourishing ingredients. Sometimes I eat this salad for lunch all by itself, it’s that good.

I love a hot dog in the summer! 100% grass-fed hotdogs are so much easier to find these days than in the past. Wrapping the sourdough around the hotdogs are such a fun, whimsical way to eat this barbecue classic.

And what’s a barbecue without a popsicle? These are so light and refreshing and perfect on a hot summer day. If you don’t have popsicle molds, paper cups and work just as well!

I hope you’ve been inspired by some of these beautiful and delicious ideas. I’d love to know if you take them to any barbecues this summer! Comment and let me know where you took them!
